Some Photos Of Training

We are not professional trainers, but thought some of these photos might be helpful to the beginner. And enjoyable for anyone.

Just weaned pups scenting some tid bits of vienna sausage in the short grass. This is good initial scent/nose training and socialization activity, but do not over due it. Too much, in my view, can encourage "ground scenting" and not "air scenting."

Seven week old pups sight pointing a quail in a harness. Bird wings or a piece of rag can be used, too. This is good initial training and a good pup & boss activity. Do not over due it! A couple times a week for a few minutes is enough. And, the interest or dis-interest level does not necessarily reflect bird hunting ability as an adult.

Pups teaching each other the feel of the collar, the benefit to giving in, and initial leading training. A good technique. Switch to man and tie out as soon as they respond well. A few minutes of this each day for a few days is enough.

Always use a check cord in early field training. Here, Susiane is sight and scent pointing a restrained Chuker. The check cord assures control.

Susiane at about seven months on a scent point on Chukar. Note the check cord is in hand. This is good time to caress the dogs, etc.

The pickup chain gang waiting their turn at the training area. Samba, Selgine (Nicole), and Susiane.

Selgine (Nicole) says, "It's my turn Dad."
